I work primarily in Naked Raku fired vessels, as I use various processes utilising smoke, organic combustibles and fumes to create texture on a marble smooth clay body.

I find the randomness of the process exciting and love the unexpected joy of seeing patterns emerging through the cracking sacrificial glazes, or when opening a Sagger

There is certainly a sense of instant gratification in seeing my work come to life before my eyes, with each one an individual piece, free of conformity and routine-ness.

I have carried as much of this process as possible across to my range of functional ware and where ever possible have left large areas unglazed
